Cheetahs boss Franco Smith has reportedly been lined up to take over as Italy boss following the 2019 RugbyWorld Cup.
That was confirmed by the Cheetahs on Saturday following their 38-13 win over the Dragons in the PRO14 in Bloemfontein on Saturday.
“The Management of the Free State Cheetahs (Pty) Ltd is aware of the offer made to the Franco Smith, Head Coach of the Toyota Cheetahs, to coach the Italian National side as from 1 January 2020,” the franchise said in a statement.
