Northampton Saints boss Chris Boyd is to go before a RFU disciplinary panel on Thursday for comments made after the match against Saracens at the start of the month.
He said referee Adam Leal “didn’t have enough nuts” to award a penalty at an important moment in his side’s 30-6 Premiership loss to Saracens.
“He didn’t have enough nuts did he? I mean it was a clear hinge. There was only one side under pressure in that series of scrums,” he said.
“But anyway. I certainly think we took the right option. We could have taken three points there but we spent a long time down there. For us to come away with three points would have been a victory for them.”
Boyd guided Saints to victory in the 2019 Premiership Rugby Cup and they also reached the league play-off semi-finals in the same year.
They are currently fifth in the Premiership, but have lost both games so far in the European Champions Cup.
