Eddie Jones believes he’s coached just 4 world class players during his career

Eddie Jones has said that he only managed four world class players during his stellar coaching career

During multiple interviews, the Aussie has never been quick to label a player ‘world-class’ and infamously declared his England team had none.

Since then, three players have broken through Jones’ glass ceiling to join the ‘best player he coached’ in a rather exclusive club of his world-class players.

Jones said: “Maro is one of the best players in the world and he plays the game on the edge,

““At the same time, there are areas of the game he needs to tidy up and he knows that. He’s a good boy, a good player. There are just a few things in his game he needs to tidy up.”

Maro Itoje facts:

  1. He doesn’t enjoy drinking beer
  2. He likes to collect art in his spare time
  3. As a schoolboy, Itoje played several sports including basketball, football, rugby and athletics, representing England at U17 level in shot put
  4. Maro got a rugby scholarship to London Harrow school when he was 11. He then studied for a Politics degree at the School of Oriental and African Studies in Bloomsbury, London at the same time as starting his rugby career
  5. He is also the cousin of Bath’s loosehead-prop Beno Obano
  6. The lock was born Oghenemaro Miles Itoje in Camden, London on 28 October 1994 to Nigerian parents
