Eddie Jones labelled ‘irrelevant’ after head injury comments

Some fans have branded England head coach Eddie Jones an idiot after he told the press that he believes rugby is now a ‘safe’ sport.

Speaking after the news that World Cup winner Steve Thompson will be suing World Rugby, Jones was speaking about the issue.

In an interview with the How To Academy, Jones said: “Firstly it is very sad news but I think if there is a positive about it – and there is never a positive about people being sick or losing part of their function – it is that the game has adjusted to it.

“I don’t think that the game at the moment is unsafe. If you look at most sports back then it was unsafe.”

One fan wrote in response: “Eddie Jones needs a head injury assessment, lost his head.”

Another made same joke, writing: “What an idiot. Eddie Jones will be the first coach to be removed for a head injury assessment.”

Alexander wrote: “Where is the evidence to support that comment?”

Nathan Dallow added: “Let’s not take Eddie seriously now, his opinion is irrelevant, it’s world rugby that should be speaking up.”
