RUCK takes a look at five potential candidates to lead England against Australia this summer after Eddie Jones revealed no decision had been made.
Despite the squad flying to Australia today, the England boss has not confirmed who will skipper the side. The Aussie added heavyweight clout to England’s squad to tour Australia by bringing Billy Vunipola out of exile on Monday
Jones will not announce the identity of his skipper until naming a team a week on Thursday for the first Test in Perth.
Jones has revealed the five contenders to lead the side.
#1. Courtney Lawes
Jones said: “Courtney wasn’t a leader the first time I laid eyes on him. He was a fairly laconic, laid-back, naturally talented rugby player
“And what’s impressed me about Courtney is over the six years that I’ve been involved with him, he still has that personality, but his attitude towards his rugby is far different,
“He is much more diligent in his preparation and is much more of a contributor in a team environment.”
