England set to bid for mens Rugby World Cup, face stiff competition

England and the RFU are set to be among three bidders for the 2035 Rugby World Cup alongside New Zealand and Japan.

Planet Rugby has reported that Japan Rugby Football Union (JRFU) chairman Kensuke Iwabuchi has also informed World Rugby that his country wants to host the Rugby World Cup as early as 2035.

“We’ve informed World Rugby that we want to do it then at the earliest (2035), and we will move forward looking at when the conditions allow us to actually host it,” he said.

France has been selected as the host nation for the 2023 Rugby World Cup, while Australia has been awarded the honor of hosting the men’s tournament in 2027 and the women’s event in 2029.

Following this, the tournament will venture to North America, with the 2031 men’s World Cup and the 2033 women’s showcase set to take place in the United States.

“Horror draw” – England get pool of death in revised World Cup draw

The recently released World Rugby Rankings highlight the absurdity of the Pool Draw for the upcoming Rugby World Cup 2023, which was determined three years in advance and appears to be heavily skewed.

In response to criticism, World Rugby has announced that future pool draws for the Rugby World Cup will be conducted closer to the start of the tournament, as the current practice of relying on team rankings at the time of the draw is deemed unfair.

As a result, the guys over at Eggchasers Rugby put together their own drawer the 2023 tournament based on the current World Rugby rankings.

Concentrating on only the top 10 countries in the world, it looks significant.

It was very different with England handed a much sterner test in their pool. Watch the full video here.
