“England’s new record” – Every countries heaviest Six Nations defeat

FRANCE: 36 points – England 44-8 France (2019)

If England fans want to feel better after last weekend, RUCK certainly recommends watching the 2019 Six Nations match against France. A first half hat-trick from Gloucester winger Jonny May, and an additional try from centre Henry Slade saw England set out on a rampage against France, and take a 30-8 lead into half-time.

Ahead of this match, England were in inspired form. They came into the match with nine wins in their last 12 meetings with France, and made it a perfect 10 in emphatic style. Les Bleus were in a rough spot in the late 2010’s, in urgent need of a re-build. France had lost eight matches in their previous nine heading into the game, with their weakness once again highlighted at Twickenham Stadium.

A slower second half saw former England Head Coach Eddie Jones take the foot of the gas peddle. Just two unanswered tries broke through the French defence, one for Owen Farrell, and a penalty try after Chris Ashton was tackled off the ball in a try-scoring position.
