“England’s new record” – Every countries heaviest Six Nations defeat

Now that the dust has settled on England’s monumental defeat to France, it’s time to compare Steve Borthwick’s side to other historic Six Nations losses.

This article will certainly make England fans feel a bit better after the weekend, as we take a look at the heaviest Six Nations defeat for each of the competing countries.

Throughout the years, England have convincingly beaten four of the Six Nations sides, and set their record for one-sided defeats in the competition. There has been many memorable matches in the Six Nations’ 24 year history, with these six landslide defeats being memories to forget, for those on the losing side.

ENGLAND: 43 points – England 10-53 France (2023 Six Nations)

Lets start with the most recent match that England fans are trying to forget all about. The only defeat on this list to have happened to a home side, England were humbled by France with ‘les bleus’ reminding spectators of their full explosive capabilities.

England’s record Twickenham defeat was not the only record of note, as for the first time in a Six Nations match, three French players each scored twice. Thibaud Flament, Charles Ollivon and Damien Penaud each grabbed a brace of tries, with the remaining points coming from full back Thomas Ramos.

Ramos scored the opening try after just two minutes, leaving the 82,000 capacity Twickenham crowd in a stunned silence. An additional 18 points from the boot, saw Ramos convert six out of seven tries, and add an extra two penalties to France’s ever-growing points tally.

A day for England to forget, as France re-affirmed their position as the second best team in the world. England have to regather their focus ahead of their trip to Dublin, as they look to avoid an embarrassing end their 2023 Six Nations campaign. The world’s number one ranked side Ireland, are on course to complete their first Grand Slam since 2018. Ireland would love nothing more than to achieve an imposing win over England, on St Paddy’s Weekend no less.
