Justin Tipuric close to making rugby return with Ospreys

  • Justin Tipuric fell from a line-out during Wales’s game with Italy at the Millennium Stadium in March
  • “We don’t feel the need to rush him,” said head coach Steve Tandy.
  • But Tipuric is almost ready to resurface, possibly as soon as this Friday against Belgium in Waterloo
Justin Tipuric is close to making his first appearance on a rugby field since the frightening line-out fall that left him heavily concussed and unable to watch television.

The British and Irish Lion was advised to take a three-month rest after suffering concussion playing for Wales against Italy on 19 March.

Tipuric missed Wales’ 3-0 series defeat in New Zealand in June.

“We don’t feel the need to rush him,” said head coach Steve Tandy.

“He’s doing his work and was in and around the group for the Leicester Tigers game last Friday.

“He’s also in Belgium with us. We’ll see how he’s pulling up, and, touch wood, he’ll be ready to go from game one.”

The Ospreys have Sam Underhill sidelined for four months, while James King is also on the casualty list.
