Rugby league legend Kevin Sinfield has once again been overlooked in the New Year Honours, despite his extraordinary fundraising efforts for Motor Neurone Disease (MND).

Seven Ultra-Marathons in Seven Days
Earlier this month, Sinfield completed an incredible endurance challenge: running a marathon a day for seven days. The route took him from Bury St Edmunds Rugby Club to Leeds’ Headingley Stadium, raising awareness and vital funds for MND in memory of his late teammate Rob Burrow.

- Total raised for MND charities: £11 million
For the final few kilometres, Sinfield was joined by sporting stars Jonny Brownlee and Josh Warrington, who ran with him after the Leeds Santa Dash.
Praise From Royalty
Even Prince William took notice, posting on social media:
“Your commitment to Rob and everyone affected by MND is truly inspiring. Thank you for shining a light on the need for research and support, and for the hope and example you bring. Look after those knees!”

The money raised by Sinfield will go to:
- Motor Neurone Disease Association
- Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association
- My Name’5 Doddie Foundation
- MND Scotland
- Leeds Hospitals Charity
- The Darby Rimmer MND Foundation
Honours Snub
Despite his achievements, Sinfield has once again missed out on an upgrade to his honours. Sources suggest this is due to a three-year rule, with his last accolade, a CBE, awarded two years ago alongside Rob Burrow.
At 45, Sinfield shows no signs of slowing down, saying:
“All through the last week, all through the past five years, to everybody we’ve met – it’s an absolutely beautiful community. We’ve got to keep fighting for the MND community.”
