They have recruited last season’s Scotland Under-20s hooker Ewan Ashman on a short-term loan from Sale Sharks. The 19-year-old – who has played 10 times for the age-grade side since making his debut against Italy at the start of the last Six Nations – will link up with capital outfit immediately at their four-day training camp in St Andrews.

The 20-year-old has signed a two-year contract with the franchise and is so far only one of two confirmed outside backs in the squad for next season along with Josh McKay.
