England wing Immanuel Feyi-Waboso has been ruled out of the final round of the 2024 Six Nations, and will miss this weekend’s finale against France. The Exeter man has been withdrawn from the fray after suffering a head injury, which was confirmed by England attack coach Richard Wigglesworth.
Feyi-Waboso played all 80 minutes of the match against Ireland, yet reported concussive symptoms the following day. A medical student at the University of Exeter, Feyi-Waboso put his health first and stood down from the upcoming trip to Lyon. Wigglesworth broke the news in today’s media session at England’s training camp;
“Manny is out with a head knock. He felt a bit groggy so he is unfortunately ruled out of the game, but we don’t take any risks with that sort of stuff. So he’s out but otherwise everybody else trained.
“He’s obviously gutted but being the smart lad he is, he reported his symtoms so we’re not taking any risks. He did the right thing but he’s disappointed because he was excited to try and play away in France.”
Whilst one Exeter man will miss out on the battle with Les Bleus, another looks set to defy the injury odds to take on France. After being withdrawn from action against Ireland, Henry Slade has been given the green light to participate training this week following a minor leg injury. Wigglesworth confirmed the involvement of Slade;
“He’s fine, he trained today. If you get to this point in the tournament you won’t have been doing your job if you don’t have a few bumps and bruises. The lads got into it today and came out with a clean bill of health.”
