“Not good enough” – 5 players who shouldn’t play for England again after dismal Six Nations

We take a look at some of the players who were harshly rated by publications following England’s defeat against France in Paris.

For Eddie Jones’ men, defeat is a sobering reality check. There are still 18 months until the start of the Rugby World Cup, but to close the gap on France in that timeframe requires swift, steep improvement.

There was little sign of it at the Stade de France. A campaign that started with England being stifled by Scotland, ended with them overwhelmed in Paris, and there have been precious few positives in between.

#1. Ben Youngs

Telegraph (4/10): “Shocker of a box kick was charged down by Alldritt which then pinned England back in their half. Ruck ball was slow. Good stutter though to make France pause ahead of Steward’s try but napping for Dupont’s.”

Mail Online (5/10): “A horses for courses starter brought in for his box-kicking which went well but service from breakdowns still slow if pace ups.”
