Premiership ground given planning permission for improvements

Bath Rugby has confirmed that it has received planning permission for its application to move the East Stand by approximately three metres for the forthcoming 2017/18 campaign, which will improve the sightlines for the majority of supporters attending fixtures at the Recreation Ground.

Under the changes, the East Stand will move into the Recreation Ground outfield by approximately three metres, which will also see the pitch move by around one and a half metres.

This in turn will improve the visibility of the near touchlines in both the East and West Stands enhancing the supporter experience at the Rec. The positioning of the North and South stands will remain the same and the big screen will remain in its current location in the North East corner.

The proposed changes had previously been approved by the Club’s landlord, Bath Recreation Ground Trust, subject to planning approval. The proposed changes will now be implemented ahead of the commencement of the 2017/18 season.
