Beauden Barrett
All Blacks star Beauden Barrett has already made his feelings clear about a potential move to Europe, with two PREM Rugby clubs targeting the double World Cup winner.
The 35-year-old is once again at the centre of transfer speculation, with Bristol Bears and Newcastle Red Bulls linked with an ambitious move for the New Zealand legend.
And while Barrett has yet to confirm his next destination, comments he made about playing in Europe could offer a fascinating clue about his future.

Beauden Barrett makes feelings clear on European move

Barrett has previously admitted that the prospect of playing in France is something he regularly thinks about.
Speaking to French broadcaster Canal+ in December 2024, the All Blacks great was asked whether he could see himself playing in the Top 14.
"Of course. I think about it all the time," he replied, according to French newspaper La Dépêche.

Beauden and Scott Barrett have both been linked with a move to England.
Barrett also revealed his admiration for French club rugby, highlighting Toulouse, Bordeaux and La Rochelle among the sides he enjoys watching.
The former World Rugby Player of the Year even suggested he was waiting for an approach from a player or club.
His comments have taken on fresh significance following reports linking him with a move away from New Zealand.
However, Barrett was discussing France specifically, rather than expressing a preference for playing in England.

Two PREM Rugby clubs linked with Barrett brothers

According to Planet Rugby, Bristol Bears are in advanced talks over a potential deal involving Beauden and his younger brother Scott.
Newcastle Red Bulls are also reportedly interested in bringing the pair to England following the 2027 Rugby World Cup.
As RUCK previously reported, the brothers are understood to be attracting interest as a package deal, meaning any interested club would need to sign both players.
Neither club has confirmed negotiations, and no agreement has been announced.
The potential move would represent a major coup for English rugby, particularly with both players boasting extensive international experience.
Barrett is no stranger to playing overseas, having previously enjoyed spells in Japan with Toyota Verblitz.
However, a move to Europe would offer a completely different challenge in the closing stages of his career.

What next for Beauden Barrett?

For now, Barrett remains focused on international rugby as New Zealand prepare for the 2027 Rugby World Cup in Australia.
The veteran playmaker has been named at full-back for Saturday's Bledisloe Cup clash against Australia, with Damian McKenzie starting at fly-half.
His international future beyond the tournament remains uncertain, but the prospect of playing alongside brother Scott in England could prove tempting.
Whether Barrett eventually chooses the PREM, follows his previously stated interest in France or remains in New Zealand is still unclear.
One thing is certain: his previous comments suggest the idea of playing European rugby has been on his mind for some time
