We’ve decided to give everybody a little review of the second round of the 2022 Six Nations by deciding who has been each home nations best and worst player this weekend.
Yes, our choices are bound to spark debate in places. That’s half the joy, though… right?
Disclaimers aside, though, you can check out our choices for every home nations down below and decide whether we’ve made the right calls or not:
SCOTLAND:
BEST: Darcy Graham
Offside Line 9/10: "A little man with a giant heart. Too strong for Louis Rees-Zammit when he caught him one-on-one five meters out. Into everything, with some huge hits."
WORST: Finn Russell
Telegraph 5/10: "Yellow card for deliberate knock-on turned the game. Even before then he kicked restart straight into touch, shanked high ball in own 22 and missed touch."
WALES:
BEST: Dan Biggar
Wales Online 8/10: "Played flat and challenged the gain line, bringing runners into the game with superb timing of the pass in the first half. Managed the second 40 well, despite Scotland's brilliant defence. Was injured for most of the game, but that didn't stop him."
WORST: Louis Rees-Zammit
Wales Online 5/10: "Only act of note in the first half was to be manhandled by Darcy Graham when the Scot had no right to score."
IRELAND:
BEST: Josh van der Flier
The 42 7/10: "A big defensive effort and while most attempts to carry led him into brick walls, he never gave up the fight. Had the power to muscle over for a crucial try shortly after half time.:
WORST: Garry Ringrose
Joe 5/10: "Wandered into midfield without any real intent and failed to make a tackle, in the lead-up to Dupont's try. Got little change in midfield."
FRANCE
BEST: Antoine Dupont
Rugby Pass 9/10: "Always a threat from the base and showed some sublime touches in addition to managing the game to good effect and taking very few wrong options."
WORST: Anthony Jelonch
Rugby Pass 6/10: "Lost his support to give Ireland the penalty from which Josh van der Flier claimed his country’s second try then almost immediately pinged at the breakdown to give Ireland the field position from which Jamison Gibson-Park grabbed the visitors’ third touchdown."
ENGLAND:
BEST: Marcus Smith
Evening Standard 9/10: "The golden boy of English rugby can seemingly do no wrong right now. Got England going with their opening try and proceeded to run the show from there."
WORST: Will Stuart
Telegraph 6/10: "Penalised early and faced a good test at the scrum from Danilo Fischetti, with Stuart pinged for not driving straight before the break. Busy in attack with seven carries"
ITALY:
BEST: Michele Lamaro
WORST: Ignacio Brex

- Jordie Barrett over Damian de Allende is far from being correct. The hype around Dupont is also overreaching, he's probably 4th in the world and has been since the 2023 WC. He also avoids certain matchups which is strange. The rest of the list is pretty good apart from minor subjective biases.JasonMarlow16-09-2026
