England internationals George Ford, Bevan Rodd and Joe Carpenter all return as Sale Sharks Director of Rugby Alex Sanderson makes five changes to his side for the Boxing Day showdown with Harlequins.

Ford is back after missing the last two matches with a minor injury and will start a must-win encounter against fellow PREM Rugby strugglers Quins. Carpenter also returns sooner than expected, having recovered impressively from ankle surgery in October.
There are reinforcements in the pack too, with James Harper and Hyron Andrews recalled to the starting XV. Andrews’ return will help steady a lineout that faltered in last weekend’s defeat at Northampton, where he partners Ben Bamber in the second row. Tom Curry moves to number eight, while the back row remains unchanged, with captain Ernst van Rhyn at openside and Jacques Vermeulen on the blindside.
England loosehead Rodd returns to the front row after an ankle injury and will pack down alongside hooker Luke Cowan-Dickie and tighthead James Harper.
At half-back, Raffi Quirke retains the scrum-half shirt amid rumours that he may be leaving the club at the end of his contract, and is reunited with Ford at fly-half. Marius Louw continues at inside centre, while Rob du Preez shifts back to his preferred outside centre role.
The back three sees Alex Wills start on the left wing, Tom O’Flaherty on the right, and Carpenter slotting in at fullback.
The bench is strengthened by the return of Rekeiti Ma’asi-White and Sam Dugdale from injury. Former Harlequins hooker Nathan Jibulu provides cover at hooker, with Si McIntyre and WillGriff John among the replacement forwards, alongside Tom Burrow and Dugdale. Gus Warr, Ma’asi-White and Gurshwin Wehr complete the list of replacements in the backs.
