Nick Knowles' new club Cornish Pirates suffered an unwanted record this weekend as their Champ Rugby campaign took a heavy hit.
The Pirates conceded 11 tries in a 73-40 defeat to Coventry, setting a new club record for points conceded in a Champ fixture.
Their previous record came in a 69-8 defeat to Worcester Warriors in April 2015.
The result was their first defeat of the season. They had opened their campaign with a win over Doncaster Knights.
Cornish Pirates looked set for a much closer finish after recovering from 33-7 down to trail 33-26 at half-time. However, yellow cards for Arwel Robson and Matt Cannon within three minutes of each other proved costly.
The Pirates conceded five tries in a 13-minute spell around the two sin-binnings as Coventry pulled away.
Head coach Gavin Cattle admitted the scoreline was harsh, but pointed to the positive moments from his side's performance and the lessons they can take from the defeat.
The Pirates are among the more ambitious clubs in the second tier after securing fresh investment in recent months.
DIY SOS star Knowles was recently announced as a new shareholder in the Cornish club.
He has already brought in a film crew to produce a documentary series about the importance of rugby in Cornwall and the Pirates' plans for regeneration and growth.
