A deal to take Richard Wigglesworth back to Sale Sharks as a player-coach has been cancelled, according to The Rugby Paper.
The scrum-half, who won 33 England caps between 2008 and 2018, could now be set to stay in the capital despite Saracens relegation following the salary cap scandal..
The 36-year-old could now stay with Sarries or join Championship high-flyers Ealing Trailfinders, where he already works as a coach.
Having risen through the ranks at Sale Sharks, winning his first Premiership with the Manchester outfit in 2005/06, the scrum-half swapped the North West for Sarries in 2010 and has proved pivotal in the club’s success on the field.

In his debut season, the Men in Black won its maiden league title and four have followed since alongside three European Cups – his pinpoint accuracy from the boot proved invaluable in monsoon conditions to secure the first of the latter.
Wigglesworth has appeared over 200 times for Saracens and in 2018/19 broke former captain Steve Borthwick’s record as the all-time Premiership appearance holder.
