London Welsh boss Cai Griffiths believes his side has Saracens wrongdoings to thank for their latest promotion.
They had been sitting top of London 2 North West, 19 points clear of the third-placed side, and were just four games from securing their third successive promotion to the countries sixth tier.
The league campaigns in both Scotland and Wales had been declared null and void, meaning no promotion and relegation.
The Exiles had been scared of the same fate prior to the RFU's announcement on Friday.
“It’s an absolutely massive relief,” revealed the former Ospreys prop to Wales Online.
“The RFU said a couple of weeks ago that the season was cancelled and they were looking at what to do about league positions.
“With the other Unions coming out and saying they had null and voided the leagues, we were thinking ‘Oh God, this is going to happen to us as well’.
“We thought the RFU were just going to void it and do away with promotion and relegation because it was easier for them to do that.
“That would have been a massive hit for us because we have been going so well.

“But I think our saving grace was they had to do something regarding Saracens and that might have forced them to have a look at a different model of how to finish the season off.
“I don’t think they could just have one league having promotion and relegation.
“The way they have tackled it, with the algorithm and how they have done it, is pretty fair.”
