Rugby World Cup | Team of the semi-finals

Prop | Mako Vunipola (England) – Passed, carried, hit, scrummaged and lifted with equal aplomb. He is essential to England’s attacking plan.

Hooker | Jamie George (England) – Another hugely impressive performance. Brings so much to the side.

Prop | Kyle Sinckler (England) –One of a number of England’s big ball-carriers who made some real dents. Hobbled off after another massive shift.

Lock | Maro Itoje (England) –A menace around the field and in the rucks, and some good hands in open play. Made three turnovers – a huge contribution.

Lock |Alun Wyn Jones (Wales) – His brave decision to go for a scrum rather than penalty deserved more.

Flanker | Tom Curry (England) –Enormous shift in defence and with the ball in hand.

Flanker | Sam Underhill (England) – Astonishing. Any time New Zealand threatened there he was to rock the ball-carrier back from whence he came.

Number 8 | Duane Vermaelen (South Africa) – The No 8 made more carries than any South African forward. Very strong.
