The 2018 European Player of the Year is looking for a new club after being sacked by French Top 14 side Racing 92.
An official statement from the club on Friday confirmed they had dismissed the highly-regarded second-row after he returned late to the club following this year’s World Cup in Japan.
The 31-year-old was due back at the club on October 28, but Racing’s statement states he was absent without permission for two weeks beyond his return date – adding that his actions demonstrated “a total lack of team spirit and a marked insubordination”.
Here are three teams who could sign the lock.
1. Glasgow Warriors
French newspaper Midi Olympique are today (Monday) claiming that Glasgow Warriors Managing Director Nathan Bombrys made contact with the player while in France for Saturday’s Heineken Champions Cup win in La Rochelle and made an offer to the former European Player of the Year.
2. NSW Waratahs
Rugby.com.au is also reporting that the New South Wales Super Rugby side have made contact with the Fijian’s management team about the possibility of bringing the move to fruition.
3. Sale Sharks
Sale director of rugby Steve Diamond confirmed a few weeks ago that the club were in negotiations with Nakarawa.
