Sale report own player over ‘team leaks’ before Bristol match

  • The Sharks have lodged a protest with the Rugby Football Union against Tom Arscott
  • Bristol won the match 24-23 at AJ Bell Stadium after trailing 15-0
Sale have complained that one of their players passed team information to Bristol before their Premiership match on 1 January.

The Bristol post revealed last night that the previously unnamed player was former Bristol man Tom Arscott. He is the brother of Bristol full-back Luke Arscott, who was an unused replacement that day.

Sale lodged a protest with the Rugby Football Union, claiming he released confidential details, as well as a Bristol player who received it.

The 29-year-old Sale player is yet to officially be named, although it is expected to be confirmed on Tuesday that he is the player under investigation. No information on the specifics on the allegations is yet to surface.

It added: “The club are absolutely confident of no wrongdoing in this matter and will fully co-operate with the investigation.”
