Scotland fly-half Finn Russell set to complete move away from Glasgow

Finn Russell’s emergence as a world-class stand-off saw him called into the Lions squad and will be recognised with a big-money move in time for 2018/19 season.

It was reported in the summer that he’d be joining Vern Cotter at Montpellier, but now according to Midi Olympique Racing 92 are trying to hijack that deal after meeting with the fly-half.

The Parisians are looking to recruit a replacement for Dan Carter, whose contract expires at the end of the season.

Their bid came after their number one target, French international Jules Plisson, signed a new deal to remain at Stade Francais for another three years.

If the reports are accurate, it is unlikely that the Scotland would be the first-choice fly-half.

The club has recently signed South African Pat Lambie on a three-year deal, but he has struggled to play consistent rugby since suffering a bad concussion against Ireland with South Africa.
