A member of the Barbarians rugby team is facing charges of sexual assault.
Api Ratuniyarawa, aged 37 and hailing from West Northamptonshire, was scheduled to make a court appearance at Cardiff Magistrates’ Court on Saturday.
The South Wales Police have leveled charges against him, which include sexual assault by penetration and sexual assault by touching.
Interestingly, he had been listed as part of the Barbarians’ squad for their upcoming match against Wales at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium, with the game set to kick off at 14:30 GMT.
In a statement, Barbarian FC said: “As soon as we were contacted by South Wales Police we cooperated fully, assisting them with their enquiries.
“On their advice we can’t comment any further as the investigation is ongoing.”
