Steve Borthwick told to give England debut to speedster who ‘doesn’t get enough praise’

Steve Borthwick has been told to “have a look” at a Sale Sharks winger as he considers his England team to play Scotland this weekend.

RUCK’s 2024 Guinness Six Nations content powered by ISUZU.

He is expected to cut down his squad today before naming his match-day 23 for the Calcutta Cup clash on Thursday.

Borthwick faces a use him or lose him situation as Tom Roebuck is eligible to play for Scotland and could make the swap at any time as long as he remains uncapped.

The speedster, who has six tries in all competitions this season, is a player fans want to see given his England debut.

One fan wrote: “Tom Roebuck should definitely be used by England during the Six Nations. He’s got pace, strength, good handling, great footwork and seems to play with his mind engaged. Impressive.”

A second a said: “Not seeing enough love for Tom Roebuck. He’s been the best Premiership winger recently. Give him a go, Borthwick,”

Another commented: “As a Sale fan, I think Roebuck would bring a lot to this England team. It’ll be heartbreaking for me if he swaps and plays for Scotland,”

Brian Moore tells Steve Borthwick to make FOUR changes to his England XV for Scotland clash

Brian Moore has called on head coach Steve Borthwick to make four changes for the Calcutta Cup clash with Scotland at Murrayfield this Saturday.

Strong scrum:

He wrote: “I would consider picking England’s strongest scrummaging front row of Joe Marler, Jamie George and Dan Cole.

“It is not that Will Stuart has underperformed at tighthead, but if England have a chance of getting on top in this important set-piece, better that they do it early and, as they now always say, paint the right picture for Andrew Brace, the referee.”
