Supercomputer simulates Rugby World Cup thousands of times – predicts England’s chances

England is being tipped to win their World Cup group.

Scientists have fed data involving the 20 competing teams into a World Cup computer and simulated the tournament almost 4,000 times.

They have played a total of 180,000 games on the computer, each match replicated based upon a complex mathematical formula of actuaries.
