Martin Johnson’s tenure as England’s head coach concluded more than a decade ago, yet the memories of their ill-fated 2011 World Cup campaign linger on.
Taking the helm as England’s team manager on July 1, 2008, Johnson oversaw their triumph in the 2011 Six Nations Championship, marking their first victory since 2003.
Nonetheless, his departure from the position occurred in November 2011, following England’s disappointing exit in the quarter-finals of the 2011 Rugby World Cup. Since then, he has refrained from assuming any managerial roles in the sport.
During his time in charge, Johnson’s England squad struggled to perform, with five of their players earning unwanted recognition in Eurosport’s list of the tournament’s worst performers.

Eurosport wrote: “The England captain’s antics in an Auckland bar – which involved a mystery blonde who may or may not have been a former squeeze kissing his forehead – overshadowed the entire group stage for England.
“His on-pitch displays were equally lacklustre, and all the signs suggest that he will now retire disgracefully from rugby to a lifetime of negotiating a rocky royal marriage.”
