It was rumoured by Talking Rugby Union and others that Wasps captain Joe Launchbury may leave the black and golds when his contract expires at the end of the current season.
The 26-year-old was the subject of interest from a number of Premiership clubs, with Sale Sharks willing to offer him £500,000 per year on a five-year deal to relocate to the North West.
However, The Rugby Paper has reported this morning that Wasps have won their tug of war with Sharks to keep the England second-row at the Ricoh Arena.
They’ve revealed Launchbury will join fellow England star Elliot Daly in signing a new contract at the club sometime this week.
The news will be a massive boost for Wasps Director of Rugby Dai Young, who has a number of high profile players, including James Haskell, out of contrct at the end of the season.
