3 England contenders who impressed, and 3 who underperformed this weekend

These five England hopefuls had mixed performances during the fifth round of the Gallagher Premiership.

IMPRESSED

#3. Henry Slade (Exeter Chiefs)

Devon Live: “He showed his pace and game awareness to finish off a fine Chiefs move for the opening try and also threw a stunning pass to Hogg in the first half in moments of pure class.

“The England star was quieter in the second half but then came up with s superb 50-22 which set up Jonny Hill’s try and gave the Chiefs the lead for the first time since the first half.”

#2. George Ford (Leicester Tigers)

Tigers fly-half Ford has been praised by head coach Steve Borthwick after he helped orchestrate the team’s 48-3 win over Worcester Warriors.

“George did everything good today,” Borthwick said. “He pulled the strings and was very, very good.

“Whether he is in the England squad is not my call, but he looked very sharp.

“I want to help my players to be the best they can be and help their aspirations.”
