#2. Ruan Ackermann (Gloucester)
Ackermann, who qualifies for England on residency signed with Gloucester Rugby in the summer of 2017, joining the club from the Lions’ Super Rugby squad in South Africa.
Since joining the Cherry and Whites, Ackermann has impressed through his physicality and work rate in each season since coming to Kingsholm and often tops the stats for the most carries in a game.
Playing in 20 of Gloucester Rugby’s 23 games in the 2020-21 season, Ackermann has made the No.8 shirt his own and has enjoyed playing some consistent rugby in the Premiership and European Cup.
Ackermann was called up to the Barbarians squad in the summer of 2016, playing against Samoa at the London Olympic Stadium and is now qualified to play for England through residency.
