Controversial journalist Stephen Jones recently sat down with the Times to list his best captains from over the years, ranking the top five, and his selection is controversial, to say the least.
The outspoken Jones, who has never been a fan of the All Blacks, has left the legendary Richie McCaw off his list, despite the fact the former openside led his country to back-to-back World Cups.
Interestingly not one Irishman makes the list, with the likes of Brian O’Driscoll and Paul O’Connell snubbed.
Check out the list below and let us know what you think.
#5. Lawrence Dallaglio (England)
The number 8 was the only member of the squad to play every minute of England’s 2003 World Cup-winning campaign. Dallaglio was granted the England captaincy by Clive Woodward in the autumn of 1997, but was forced to relinquish the post in 1999 after a scandal involving allegations of drug dealing by the News of the World newspaper.
