Al Charron

Former Canada Captain Al Charron had a legendary career, playing at four World Cups between 1991 and 2003, before becoming part of the Canadian management team. He was inducted into the Eastern Ontario wall of Fame, Ontario Hall of Fame, Ottawa Sports hall of Fame and has also recognised as being one of the top 100 athletes to come from Ottawa. He was a favourite with the supporters of many of the European clubs he played for. While playing with Moseley and Bristol he was voted the supporters’ Player of the Season for 1996/97 1998/99 respectively and was awarded the BBC West Rugby Player of the Year award in 1999.

Perry Freshwater

New Zealand-born loosehead prop Perry Freshwater played for the All Blacks at Under 19 and Under 21 level before deciding to spend a year in England playing with Leicester Tigers in 1995, but that year would turn into eight. He then made the decision to represent England and made his international debut from the replacements bench during the 40–3 victory over Samoa in November 2005 before going on to make two appearances at the 2007 World Cup as England reached the final.

The South African international fly-half became well known in the world of rugby for his exceptional kicking displays for the Cheetahs in Super Rugby. The 23-year old also is also a creative influence on the attack and does not shirk on defence. However, although he remains one of the Springboks brightest prospects for the future he has struggled in recent years with injury, but since joining French Top 14 side Racing Metro has rediscovered his form.
