Christian Wade jets into London to ‘complete his return to rugby’

Fresh off an appearance for Racing 92’s sevens team over the weekend, Christian Wade has revealed his ‘return to rugby is imminent’ on Twitter.

The 31-year-old, who spent three years at the Buffalo Bills in the NFL before he was released this year, has been heavily linked with a return to rugby union.

That comeback moved a step closer last week when he scored two tries while playing for Racing 92 as a medical joker in the super seven series in France.

The one-cap England star tweeted: “My return to rugby is imminent…” before later tweeting “London”.

That means the speedster could be signing with Harlequins, Saracens or London Irish with the latter rumoured to be the current favourites.

Reports suggest a deal is complete with an announcement 'expected before the end of the week'.

Wade played 165 games for Wasps, quickly becoming a fan favourite, but won just one England cap as he struggled to impress head coaches Stuart Lancaster and Eddie Jones.

This list has a total of 37 England total caps combined. Dan Cole, Toby Flood and Tom Wood all have more caps individually than this five won combined.

5. Christian Wade (One cap)

The 2013 British & Irish Lion quit Wasps in order to pursue a lucrative career in the NFL, having grown disillusioned with rugby union. The 29-year-old was one of the most recognised names in the domestic game, but his continued absence from the international set-up – having won just one England cap on the 2013 tour of Argentina – had left him frustrated and fed up of continuously being overlooked. What a waste.
