CONFIRMED: Rugby World Cup boss confirms he’s stepping down

Fiji’s coach, Simon Raiwalui, will step down from his position when his contract concludes at the end of December, even though his team achieved remarkable victories, including beating Australia and reaching the quarter-finals of the World Cup.

The Pacific Islanders impressive performance in the tournament garnered widespread acclaim, with their journey coming to an end in a closely contested 30-24 defeat to England in Marseille on Sunday.

Following this emotional loss, Raiwalui visibly expressed his admiration for his team and highlighted the foundation they had laid for the future generation of players.

“I guess it is time to make it official, specifically what the next cycle will look like for Fiji Rugby,” he said.

“I will not be seeking an extension of (my) employment with FRU past December 31,” Raiwalui confirmed on the social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter.

“Thanks again to the players, staff and all the supporters, it has been quite a ride!”

Fiji Rugby did not immediately respond to a request for comment by RUCK.
