Elliot Daly and Kyle Sinckler recalled to England by Eddie Jones

Reports tonight suggest that Henry Slade and Kyle Sinckler will be recalled by Eddie Jones to his England squad after missing the summer tour of Australia.

The Aussie is set to name his squad for the Autumn tomorrow with uncapped Northampton Saints’ Alex Coles and Saracens’ Hugh Tizard, both players having previously appeared for England U20s, set to be included.

Sinckler, Daly and Henry Slade will also be part of the squad, according to a report from the Mail Online.

Captain Courtney Lawes will likely rejoin the squad after recovering from a concussion, though Jamie George, George Ford and Sam Underhill will miss the entire series through injury.

England face Argentina in the first of their four matches at Twickenham Stadium on Sunday 6 November (2.15pm KO).

They will then host Japan on Saturday 12 November (3.15pm KO), followed by New Zealand on Saturday 19 November (5.30pm KO). Their final match is against South Africa on Saturday 26 November (5.30pm KO).

“With a year to go to the Rugby World Cup, this is a big opportunity for players to come in and impress,” said Jones. “We want them to show real energy and enthusiasm and that they want to be a part of this massive year.

“It doesn’t mean that those who have been left out won’t be considered for the Autumn Nations Series matches. We’ll be looking at club games, form and fitness and the door is left open for those players.

“We finished the Australia tour well. It was a fantastic experience, particularly for the younger players. We now have to start again, but we’ll build on what we’ve done there and continue that momentum.”

Referee’s confirmed for the 2022 Autumn Nations Series

England’s Wayne Barnes is set to make history when he takes charge of his 100th and 101st tests during the November international window.

Barnes, who made his debut in Fiji in June 2006, will become only the second referee to reach a century of tests behind friend Nigel Owens when he takes charge of Wales v New Zealand at the Principality Stadium on 5 November.

The Englishman will then set an outright record of 101 tests when he referees the match between Six Nations Grand Slam winners France and world champions South Africa in Paris a week later, on 12 November.

World Rugby Chairman Sir Bill Beaumont led the tributes to Barnes: “Congratulations to Wayne on his selection and pending record. To be so good for so long as a referee is no easy feat. Wayne Barnes, like Nigel Owens before him, reaches 100 tests by being not just a fantastic referee, but a great team player, a student of the game and someone who is greatly respected by players, coaches and fans alike.”

In total, 23 match officials representing 10 nations will take charge of the 37 November tests announced so far.
