England coach Steve Borthwick approached by a Premiership club

Steve Borthwick Leicester Tigers’ main target as they look to recruit a coaching team to get the giants back on track, according to The Rugby Paper

Tigers, who had their worst ever Premiership season as they finished 11th, are reportedly hoping “sound out” the former Bath Rugby and Saracens captain, who has been a key member of Eddie Jones’ England staff, and his staff at Japan before that.

Forwards coach Borthwick – considered a lineout guru by those who played with him – was reportedly coveted by Ulster and Wasps in the past but appears most likely to stay with England as long as Jones does.

The Aussies contract goes well into the next World Cup cycle but that could all change if England does not perform well in Japan.

As previously reported, ex-Bath Director of Rugby Mike Ford is expected to extend his stay at Welford Road; having come in on a short-term consultant coach contract at the end of the season.
