England head coach Eddie Jones being lined up for new job after Rugby World Cup

Current England coach Eddie Jones has been linked to the Australia job after the completion of the 2019 World Cup.

Michael Cheika is the current coach of the Wallabies, but he has been told that he will lose his job if he fails to win the World Cup in Japan next year.

And, if Cheika is sacked, Australian Rugby might be looking to lure Jones back for a second stint in charge of his home country.

“I can’t speak on behalf of the board, but if I’m tasked with pulling together a list of potential candidates, is Eddie Jones on there, yeah he is,” Australian Rugby’s high-performance manager Ben Whitaker told Australia’s Fox Sports.

“Quite obviously.

“Where that goes in terms of the process that we run, well, that will be determined.”

Jones (58) has won 22 of his 24 matches in charge of England.

“You appreciate the skills he’s got as a head coach,” Whitaker added.

“And if he’s willing and able — things you’d have to work out — he’d be on the list, probably another dozen would be too.”

Jones previously coached the Wallabies between 2001 and 2005.
