Despite the All Blacks making the faster start with Mark Telea opening the try-scoring after just 93 seconds, the tournament hosts held a narrow 9-8 lead at the break thanks to three penalties from Thomas Ramos.

A second try from speedster Telea edged the All Blacks back in front after the restart before Damian Penaud’s score put France back in front.

More penalties from the every reliable fullback Ramos edged France clear before Melvyn Jaminet’s try made the win safe.
