INJURY NEWS: Wales star out of Rugby World Cup

  • Wales will now face South Africa in final eight following loss to Australia
  • Liam Williams ruled out of Rugby World Cup with foot injury
  • Centre Jamie Roberts injury is not thought to be as serious

Wales’ Liam Williams is the latest casualty for Warren Gatland as the back is ruled out of the rest of the Rugby World Cup due to a foot injury.

The Scarlet wing, as well as Jamie Roberts, left the field in the closing stages of the Reds 15-6 defeat to Australia at Twickenham last night, which cost them the top spot in Pool A.

Speaking after Saturday’s game, coach Warren Gatland said Williams’ foot injury appeared to be more “serious” than Roberts’ head knock.

Wales face South Africa in the quarter-finals at Twickenham on Saturday while the Wallabies will now play Scotland at the same venue the following day.
