Leicester 3-10 Sale: Beaumont try enough for Sharks to beat Tigers

A Josh Beaumont try was enough for Sale to beat Leicester 3-10 at Welford Road on Saturday afternoon.

In difficult windy conditions at Welford Road, penalties from Danny Cipriani and Freddie Burns saw it all square at 3-3 at half-time.

After Cipriani then missed five penalty kicks in a row, the Sharks went for a line-out and Josh Beaumont touched down from the driving maul.

The Tigers barely troubled Sale’s try line as persistent rain fell.

The win sees the Sharks move into seventh place in the Premiership table in their push for Champions Cup qualification.

Leicester, however, remain in fourth position but are vulnerable having failed to gain a bonus point while fifth placed Wasps beat Newcastle.
