London Irish starlet forced to retire aged 20

London Irish Academy hooker George Davis has today confirmed his retirement from professional rugby.

Davis’ retirement comes following medical advice.

“George is a brilliant young man who has always handled himself to the highest standards around Hazelwood,” said Declan Kidney, Director of Rugby.

“It is a great shame that his rugby career has had to come to an end so soon. The Club will support George wherever we can, and we wish him well in his future endeavours.”

“George is a very unique character. From the age of 14 you could see he had the desire and dedication to excel in professional sport,” said Patrick O’Grady, Academy Manager.

“He set a fantastic example to the players around him and will always be remembered by his peers.

“The Academy staff loved supporting George throughout his journey here at London Irish and we are devastated his career has been cut short.
