New favourite to sign Danny Cipriani as fly-half wants to stay in Midlands

Steve Diamond wants to kickstart his new era at Worcester Warriors by bringing former England international Danny Cipriani to Sixways.

RUCK sources suggest the new boss is keen to add some star power to his playing squad ahead of the 2022/23 Premiership season and has also been linked with a move for Bath and England centre Jonathan Joseph.

Cipriani has struggled to rediscover his best form at The Rec since joining in the summer following his six-month sabbatical after leaving Gloucester.

Although you could point to several injuries as the reason for his slow start, he has undoubtedly proved to be a flop thus far at The Rec.

With his contract up at the end of the season, Cipriani had also emerged as a target for Newcastle Falcons – who are looking for an experienced number 10 following Toby Flood’s retirement. However, the playmaker is reportedly settled in the Midlands and ‘doesn’t fancy’ the move North.

With Jimmy Gopperth reportedly signing with Leicester Tigers, it’s also been suggested Cipriani could be set for a third and final stint with Wasps.

However, finances are tight in Coventry while Worcester could be ready to make the 16-cap fly-half their highest-paid player.
