Leicester Tiger has given out four new deals, which includes last season’s player of the year, Mike Fitzgerald.
The 29-year-old joined Tigers in the summer of 2015 and has made 44 appearances playing at lock and flanker, scoring four tries.
He was last season’s player of the year as Tigers made the Premiership and Champions Cup semi-finals.
Fitzgerald said: “I’ve enjoyed my time at the club so far and settled well here with my family. It was an easy decision to make to stay with the club.
“We’ve got a good group of boys and a very competitive set of forwards which helps everyone to improve.
“It’s been a great experience playing in the Aviva Premiership and in Europe for Leicester, and I always want to get better as a player.”
Fellow forward Bateman, flanker Brendan O’Connor, and scrum-half Jono Kitto have also agreed new deals, the lengths of which have not been disclosed.
O’Connor arrived at Welford Road in the autumn of 2015, scoring a try on his debut in a European Champions Cup win over Stade Francais, and has now made 29 appearances for the club.
Tigers head coach Aaron Mauger said: “Brendon is a quality operator in the back row and he settled in well at Tigers when he arrived during last season.
Signed from Exeter Chiefs in the summer of 2015, Bateman has made 29 first-team appearances for the Tigers and etched his name in club history this season after playing in all three front-row positions for the club
Jono Kitto, who is English qualified, joined the Tigers in the summer of 2015 and has made 24 first-team appearances, including Saturday’s Premiership win over Gloucester at Welford Road.
