What happened to the last four England head coaches?

After leaving England following the disastrous 2015 Rugby World Cup campaign, Leinster Rugby announced that Lancaster would join their backroom team in September 2016 with immediate effect as a senior coach.

He was hailed as an inspirational coach by the Leinster players following the sides victory over Racing 92 in the 2018 Champions Cup final. Despite being linked with senior roles with Gloucester and Harlequins, Lancaster has chosen to remain with the Irish province.

He resigned on 16 November 2011 following England's poor performance on and off the field at the 2011 Rugby World Cup in New Zealand. Johnson’s love of rugby has followed him through into the next stage of his career as he is now a part of the BBC commentary team.

Joining the punditry team right before the Six Nations tournament, Johnson was excited to relive some of his best memories alongside Welsh rugby legend Sam Warburton.

The 50-year-old did make a return to coaching recently, taking a session with Loughborough Lightning’s senior squad on a recent campus visit.

Since leaving the RFU in 2008, the 74-year-old has been a mentor and coach educator for the Premier League, working with coaches at clubs including Manchester United, Everton and Manchester City.

Robinson won just nine of his twenty two matches in charge of England before coaching Scotland between 2009 and 2012. The former Bath and England flanker, now 57, is currently the head coach of Romania, who are ranked 18th in the world rankings.
