Saracens have a four man shortlist to replace Owen Farrell, including Italy superstar

After an impressive 15-year tenure with Saracens, England’s Owen Farrell is set to bid farewell at the conclusion of this season, embarking on a new chapter with French Top 14 side Racing 92.

The seasoned 32-year-old fly-half, who made his debut at the StoneX Stadium at the age of 17, has inked a pivotal two-year deal with Racing 92, effective from July 1st.

As the captain of Saracens, Farrell’s departure leaves a significant void for the club, prompting them to actively seek alternatives to fill the void created by his absence.

Having earned 112 caps for his country, Farrell’s move to France poses potential obstacles for future appearances with the England national team, unless there are revisions to the eligibility rules. Head coach Steve Borthwick is reportedly advocating for such adjustments.

Notably, Farrell will be joining forces with former England head coach Stuart Lancaster at Racing 92, rekindling their partnership that began with Farrell’s international debut against Scotland in the 2012 Six Nations.

In light of Farrell’s exit, Saracens are currently exploring available options to address the void left by the departure of their influential fly-half.

In his usual fullback role, he showcases exceptional skills, yet his versatility extends to playing as a fly-half, winger, or inside centre.

Since then, he has evolved into a formidable player, making him an excellent addition to the Saracens squad.
