The Tigers, initially in control with a 19-0 lead, were left reeling as Bristol staged an incredible turnaround, dashing Leicester’s hopes of securing a spot in the playoffs.

The match saw Leicester’s wing Ollie Hassell-Collins score two tries, supported by Francois van Wyk’s powerful effort, seemingly putting the Tigers on course for a bonus-point victory. However, Bristol had different plans, with Max Lahiff’s try narrowing the gap. Matters worsened for Leicester as Mike Brown received a second yellow card, reducing them to 14 men and allowing Lahiff to notch another crucial score.

In the midst of an intense battle, Bristol capitalized on their momentum, ultimately clinching victory with Magnus Bradbury’s try and AJ MacGinty’s successful conversion.

The triumph propels Bristol Bears into the fourth playoff position, on par with Harlequins in fifth but trailing Bath by only a point and Saracens by two. Bristol’s upcoming fixture against Saracens looms large, followed by a decisive clash with Harlequins in their final Premiership game.

The club said in a statement: “While we understand the disappointment following today’s result, personal threats or abuse directed at players, coaches and / or staff on social media is not acceptable and will not be tolerated by the club.”

They added: “We have seen and received reports from fellow fans with examples of abuse which, if deemed necessary, will result in formal action against Season Ticket Holders or supporters identified as directing abusive or threatening language towards individuals.”
