Six Nations team of the week – Round Two

BACK-THREE:

• 15. Stuart Hogg (Scotland) - The skipper did his bit for the cause with two tries - including a brilliant second. Player of the tournament so far.
• 14. Louis Rees-Zammit (Wales) - A wonderful two-try display by the 20-year-old Gloucester wing, who looks a Test match natural.
• 11. Anthony Watson (England) - Showed good feet to finish off England’s second try, before making the interception and darting 80 metres to double his tally.

CENTRES:

• 13. Uilisi Halaholo (Wales) - Super turnover on Stuart Hogg and lovely pass in build-up to Liam Williams’ touchdown. A very impressive international debut
• 12. Gael Fickou (France) - The Stade Francais man was a constant threat going forward. Defensively, he also contributed 10 tackles and a turnover.

HALFBACKS:

• 10. Finn Russell (Scotland) - No fly-half really impressed this week. The number 10 played flat and fast as Scotland dominated the opening 40 minutes but could not control the game when they found themselves down to 14 men
• 9. Antoine Dupont (France) - Player of the Tournament in 2020 has picked up from where he left off with another impressive performance in Dublin

FRONT-ROW:

• 1. Wyn Jones (Wales) - Another outstanding display by the Scarlets prop, who capped it by scoring a try.
• 2. Luke Cowan-Dickie (England) - Eddie Jones has been toying with the idea of giving him a chance from the off for a while and he did not disappoint.
• 3. Kyle Sinckler (England) - The standout performer in the England front-row and heavily involved in the build-up to Daly’s try, his charging run carrying England closer to the line.

SECOND-ROW:

• 4. Jonny Hill (England) - A solid outing from Hill, who earned his hard-fought pick and go try in the first half. Seems to be getting better with every cap he wins.
• 5. Paul Willemse (France) - Another second-rower who threw his body around on defence, the French forward finished the game in Dublin with 17 tackles.

BACK-ROW:

• 6. Charles Ollivon (France) - We've shifted the slipper to the blindside to accommodate him in the team. As well as scoring the opening try, he made a stunning match high 20 tackles in defence.
• 7. Hamish Watson (Scotland) - Another outstanding display from Scotland's pick-pocket in chief as he again made himself a menace at the breakdown.
• 8. Taulupe Faletau (Wales) - You name it,he did it. A commanding contribution at the back of Wales' scrum, and he also shone in the loose.
