Two red cards missed and one given during crazy round of the Six Nations

English second row Charlie Ewels was red carded for head on head contact with his opposite number James Ryan as he went in to tackle the Leinster lock. It was the earliest sending off in a Test match in international rugby history.

After reviewing the video footage, French referee Mathieu Raynal decided there were no mitigating factors, so dismissed the Bath forward amid loud Twickenham boos.

With such an early red for England's Ewels, their fans have brought up an incident involving Tadhg Furlong that might have garnered a little more attention from the match officials. They might have a point.

Referee Luke Pearce has been universally praised for ordering a player off the field for an HIA following a nasty looking head knock in the game between Italy and Scotland.

The English referee stopped the game and told Italian centre Ignacio Brex to take the knee to be attended to by medics before he was withdrawn from the game for an HIA.

Considering the criticism referee's have had in recent weeks for their handling of head injuries, this was an exemplary piece of officiating.
