World Rankings | Japan reach record high

The new world rugby rankings have been published following the completion of the Pool stages of the Rugby World Cup.

Host nation Japan occupy a record position of seventh, while Wales remain second behind favourites New Zealand.

Wales’ quarter-final opponents France are the lowest-ranked of the last eight heading into the knockout stages.

England are third and Ireland fourth, with South Africa and Australia making up the rest.
